Saudara Cup match abandoned

The 2014 Saudara Cup match has been abandoned without a ball bowled due to a wet outfield at Singapore’s Kallang Ground. Conditions were judged to be so poor that even play tomorrow was not possible. This means that the Saudara Cup has been called off for the second year running.

It is unknown at this stage whether the match will be rearranged but with Malaysia’s busy schedule for the rest of this year, it might not be possible to squeeze it in.

This is disappointing for Malaysia because this was the team’s last international before the Asian Games. Of course, this isn’t the same squad and it’s a completely different format but some high quality match practice would only have been a good thing.
